"The story starts with our hero, a brave captain flying his spaceship through an army of saucers. To defeat the aliens, all the hero has to do is push the right button and ... the hero stops the story. It turns out this is the wrong story for him. After pleading with the author to put him in the proper story, the two settle on a shoot-out in the Old West -- until the hero once again begs the author to find a better fit. Could he be a dragon-slaying knight? A vampire victim? A crime-scene detective? The author tries again and again -- at one point leaving the hero waiting in his underwear! -- but he just can't seem to get it right.
