Elmer the patchwork elephant distracts his animal friends from noticing Super El's torn costume until he can escort him to Aunt Zelda who mends Super El's clothes.

When a lazy bird hatching an egg wants a vacation, she asks Horton, the elephant, to sit on her egg--which he does through all sorts of hazards until he is rewarded for doing what he said he would.

Elephant refuses to believe he cannot jump and ignores the jeers of other animals as he tries, but they are all surprised when Elephant does something that no other animal can.

Piggie is upset because a whale took the ball she found, but Gerald finds a solution that pleases all of them.

Elephant Gerald and Piggie want to go for a drive, but as Gerald thinks of one thing after another that they will have to take along, they come to realize that they lack the most important thing of all.

Elephant wakes up in a grumpy mood, but a present on his doorstep--a hat--cheers him and he sets out to greet his neighbors who all, it seems, need hats of their own.

Elephant and Piggie learn to play catch with their new friend Snake.
